The Reasons Why Drifting RC Cars is Fantastic

I have been living under the rocks for too long a time. The reason why I am saying this is that the idea of getting an RC car that drifts came to me only when I came across YouTube with videos of people drifting their RC cars. Of course! If there are cars that can drift in real life, then there have to be RC cars that drift too. Naturally, I have to convince my missus that my next purchase should be an RC car that can drift. To do so, I had to compile a list of reasons why drifting RC cars is fantastic.

Top Reasons Why Drifting RC Cars Are Fantastic

Was it easy trying to find reasons to justify my purchase of the RC cars that can drift? Actually not! The reasons here are perfectly legitimate, and some of you concur too.

High Adrenaline At A Low Cost

For the adrenaline junkies who love to see the fast cars in F1 races zooming past you, you will be glad to know that you can now have the exact experience, without the high cost too. Imagine being able to drift like how those cars in the movie Initial D did. The adrenaline pumping action will get you pumped up, without the exorbitant costs too!

Safe

Drifting and getting your RC car wrecked is always better than drifting in a car and crashing it thereafter. Drifting in an RC drift car allows you to do what you love to do without risking yourself to any form of danger,

Gets You The Attention

Think about it. Whenever you are on the road and you hear a heavy screeching of the tires burning against the roads, you will inevitably turn your attention towards the source of the sound. Likewise, when you drift your RC car on the courses, you will start to attract attention from everyone. This is perfect for the showboater in you! Of course, drift well and you will be looked highly upon. The contrary will be true.

Trains Your Hand And Eye Coordination

Perhaps the best reason of it all is that drifting actually helps to train your hand and eye coordination. This can be made possible simply because of the tight circumstances that you will be facing when you drift. You will need to time the brakes and the controls in order to execute the perfect drift around the tight corner so as to ensure that you have the edge over the competitors. And having a good hand and eye coordination enables you to do so many other things in life! So why not purchase a drift car to acquire this skill?

The Effortless Guide To Drifting Your RC Car

The Reasons Why Drifting RC Cars is FantasticBefore you assume that drifting the car requires a lot of effort, you will be surprised to know that drifting can actually be pretty simple. It might appear daunting as you might not familiar how the entire drifting work. But that knowledge is not important as we can teach you on how to drift your RC car even when you are a beginner!

To set up the stage, mark out a gradual curved semi-circle on the ground. Ensure that the radius of the semi-circle to be at 20cm or lesser, depending on your confidence level in drifting the RC car. Once this is done, you can proceed on for your very first drift experience.

Accelerate

Be daring and accelerate your car towards the semi-circle that you have drawn. Ensure that your car is running on the outside of the line and not the insides of it. This is in fact the proper drifing technique. Always remind yourself to run on the outside line as it will allow you to have more room for the drifting to happen.

Apply Brake

Once you approach the start of the semi-circle, you should apply the brakes. The circular momentum of you approaching the semi-circle, when combined with the sudden braking effect, will cause one set of the wheels to be locked up, causing a drift to happen! Just remember not to depress the brake pedal. It should just be a 0.5second hit on the brakes.

Yay, you have your first drift now.

Countersteer

To ensure that your RC car is drifting correctly, you will need to learn how to counter steer.  Countersteering is the process at which you turn your steering wheel in the opposite direction at which it is moving. If the car is moving to the right, then you should steer to the left and vice versa. This will allow your vehicle to glide gracefully. To ensure that you remain on the curved path, you should adjust the degree of the turn via the steering wheel. If you realize that you are going too far away from the curved path, you shouldn’t overcompensate the steer. Likewise, if you are veering too close to the path, you can relax on the countersteer too.

During this process, you can control the drift via the accelerator too.

Reverse Countersteer

Once you reach the tip or the other side of the path, you should begin steering in the opposite direction of the countersteer. Do it gradually, and you will eventually drive again via a straight line. Floor the accelerator and you are good to go!

Conclusion

It is really not that difficult to drift, right? All you need is to have constant practice, and you will be good to go already.

Be the drift king that you are meant to be!
